This place has a wonderful salad/food bar. Lots of variety with lo cal options. We had soup , salads and Jojo's off the bar so we didn't need to order anything else. Very reasonable price! The only thing negative was the young servers (high school?) who were talking too loudly to each other.

Yelp reviews were right about this place. Little less than 3 stars. Kind of a bummer being a convenient place to stop after the lake coming off the lake on the way back to Boise. We had breakfast skillets and chicken fried steaks. And they unfortunately we're not very good. Gravy was bad. Sorry just keeping it real. The service and staff are all very freindly.

Unbelievably poor slow service (although with a pleasant personality and a smile). My chicken taco salad was about 1/2 the size I expect. The chicken was tough and way too spicy. The salsa on the side was unrecognizable. My wife's Asian chicken salad also looked like a child's portion and was drowned in dressing. I had 1 bite of my salad and gave up. My wife gave it a better try. But we are both down the street at Jack in the box. My advice is to avoid AJ's!

This is a fine little eatery on the edge of Mountain Home. It has a very simple, standard atmosphere: Not much distinguishing about it. The food is also so-so. The sirloin steak I had was pretty good. Not the best I've had but not the worst either. Service was friendly and fast-ish. If you are in the area don't be afraid to give it a try. Some of the food here is pretty good and the salad bar is superb. However, if you prefer a little more pizzazz to your dining experience you might try the nearby Wingers instead.

I was out to get to the Idaho crater rings, a rather unknown geologic feature about 4 miles east of Mountain Home where Aj's is located. It was late in the day and sunlight was fading fast so I wasn't walking into this place looking for anything than some decent breakfast in the mid afternoon. I got what I expected, kinda. Selection and prices were about what you would expect. Kind of Shari's esque. Unfortunately our waitress had this dazed and meek look about here, maybe she was new. I don't know. Got my eggs wrong, scrambled instead of sunny side up. Delivered them to my partner, which was weird cuz by that time my partner had like 3 plates in front of her while I had one. Silly mistake, but I was in a hurry and didn't care. Then I went to the bathroom, it smelled strongly of urine. Awesome. Get back out and finish my plate while listening to the staff complain of being bored in the back. Then a male manager chimes in offering to make out with them to pass the time... Tacky. Other than that I will say my biscuits and gravy and sausage were on the salty side. I wasn't expecting much but even with that this place fell short.

All of the reviews on here are so different than trip advisor. The place was great! Prime Rib on Friday night melted in my mouth, the salad bar was awesome with chili and chips and clam chowder was pretty darn good for not being the coast. thought i would post here to tell peeps that the normal people must post there, because the reviews seem much more fair and accurate..

Just stopped there on our way through. Sat and waited so long, didn't even get asked if we wanted coffee. Walked out - no idea how food was? Could have been an off day?

Aj's Restaurant was one of two restaurants next to our hotel. We picked the wrong place to eat dinner. The waitress and host were both friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food was not very good, and that is being generous. My husband & I both ordered the 10oz sirloin steak. It was 50% fat, grizzle with no flavor. It was about 8pm and they were out of baked potatoes, yikes this is Idaho! We had the mashed potatoes which seemed to be instant, which was served with instant gravy. They did include a frozen mixed vegetable with the meal, corn, peas and carrots. We would make a different choice on our next visit to Mountain Home.

I am guessing that if you have this place anything over 2 stars you must work there or no someone who does! It was awful. I will never go back:(

One star is appropriate as the only good thing about this place is the service. The waitress was friendly. The food on the other hand was terrible. I don't remember the last time I had food this bad. The salad bar had a bunch of food that must have been sitting out for a while. Everything we were served seemed like it either came from a can or a box and was heated in the restaurant. The french fries were not cooked all the way and the corn was obviously from a can. I got the all you can eat shrimp, which seemed like it was fried shrimp from a box that was heated in an oven for too long, but out of everything I had was the most appetizing despite being over cooked. When I told our waitress about the poor quality of the food her response was something along the lines of "oh sorry", and then nothing was done. My husband recently got moved out here and this was the first place in town we tried to eat. If this is any indication of the quality of food in Mt. Home I'm very disappointed. I may become brave enough to try other places in town after the hurt of this overly priced terrible restaurant wares off, but I will never come back to this AJs.

Is ok for breakfast but I wouldn't east there any other time.

My dad loves this place, and if you're in Mtn. Home, your choices are limited at best. The service is awesomely friendly and worth the trip for that alone. Had the 'special' burger (sorry for not being more thorough) and was literally amazed at the beefyness of the beef. Quite good. I'd skip the salad bar next time unless it was part of the meal - very basic with not a lot of fresh variety. Remember that you're in Mtn. Home and expect as much.

AJ's serves a home-cooked style of American food. I've had the pot roast, steak, prime rib, fried chicken and salad bar, and they all tasted good. They have few selection of good pies for dessert. There's a bar room, but I haven't seen that section. The service is friendly and polite.

Good prime rib and steak with huge baked potatoes, veggies, salad bar. The rib eye steak is especially good and is cooked just like you order it. Nothing fancy, but good food at a reasonable price.

Typical medium-end American place that serves prime rib with a salad bar. Nothing fancy, nothing memorable, but hey. It's freaking prime rib and a salad bar.

Cool pictures and first time we ever saw a painted feather! Reasonably clean and pleasant staff. Ordered potato skins, thinking something along the lines of TGI Fridays. Big mistake. We were in Idaho, after all... They were huge!
